Brave the cold and hit the road with hundreds of cyclists across Chicagoland as they defy the winter elements in our second annual Winter Bike Challenge! This winter version of our wildly popular spring Bike Commuter Challenge will take place from January 22nd – 29th. Proceeds raised will help aid in Active Trans' mission to make biking in Chicagoland safer and easier.
Hop in the saddle to win, or blaze the trail for better biking in Chicagoland by fundraising for the Active Transportation Alliance. The rider who logs the most miles will be named the King/Queen of the 2016 Winter Bike Challenge and fundraisers all have the chance to win great winter biking prizes, like windproof gloves or your very own fat tire bike!
The important part is that you get on your bike! You don’t have to bike all the way to your destination every day – even just biking once to your local bus or train stop counts!
Check out how easy it is for you to get going on two wheels, winter style by checking out our tips page! Don’t let the winter blues get you down, join us for some biking fun! Not quite ready to ride in the cold? Here are some pointers.
Does riding a bike during Chicago's winter sound like too much for you? How about showing your support by donating to Active Trans. Again, all money raised will help the Active Transportation Alliance's efforts in making biking in Chicagoland safer and easier.
We’re getting the party started early this year! Join us for Winter Bike to Work Day on Friday, January 22nd, 2016 from 6:30-9:00 am at Daley Plaza. Stop by for free coffee, Eli's cheesecake and a chance to mingle with other Winter Bike Challenge participants, happy winter cyclists and other Active Trans members.
